Why is Marijuana illegal?

Well im in my high school years and I recently got caught buying pot at school (Me being the hippie i am). They suspended me for a week and I had to get up in front of the fucken board and say why i should stay at my stupid Grammar school.
I mean that's ok but why is weed even Illegal?
Whats the point people have been smoking weed for like 5000 years and they are not going to stop anytime soon.
The laws are just made by old people that have no fun at all.

Reasons it should be legal:
Everyone, I mean everyone I know has smoked it some time in their lifetime. I remember when I was a kid not to go outside when daddy was smoking his special peppermint as mum called it.

It makes life better: Life is just boring when your not stoned. It makes everything better, It makes Music GREAT. Why should we have to put up with all the shit the government wants us to do?
I say lets show them!
Smoke weed!

Everything is funnier. Anything makes you laugh you see a whole Rainbow of colours it rocks!

All the best people have done it: The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix these are just some of the examples of the greatest people that had done it. It opens your mind up man.

The government could tax it: Make themselves even more rich!

Getting it is a harmful process lots of gangs and dodgy people deal it. It can get very dangerous.

It will save our freegin planet. Not only is cannabis the most useful plant on the planet and can supply us with over 25,000 ecologically friendly products, from paper, plastics, paints, varnishes, textiles, pressed board, foods, fuels, and many medicines, but it is also a must for true spirituality.

What are some of the reasons it should be illegal.
I googled it and this is what it came up with.....

1. It is perceived as addictive.

is not! One can not get addicted to marijuana, Its impossible the only reason you smoke it is because you want to not because you have to.

It has "no accepted medical use."

It does so. Why do you think people have used it for hundreds of years?

3. It has been historically linked with narcotics, such as heroin.

Awww come on its linked with other drugs. Yes but only the stupid people do them.

4. It is associated with unfashionable lifestyles.

Such as losers and hippies? No who cares about what you think. Us hippies ate very Fashionable.

These aren't even real reasons.
The main reason is that it kills you brain cells. So does drinking and do they ban that? No
What about smoking?
The risks of smoking

Effects on the Heart
One study found that an abuser’s risk of heart attack more than quadruples in the first hour after smoking marijuana.7 The researchers suggest that such an outcome might occur from marijuana’s effects on blood pressure and heart rate (it increases both) and reduced oxygen-carrying capacity of blood.

Effects on the Lungs
Numerous studies have shown marijuana smoke to contain carcinogens and to be an irritant to the lungs. In fact, marijuana smoke contains 50 to 70 percent more carcinogenic hydrocarbons than tobacco smoke. Marijuana users usually inhale more deeply and hold their breath longer than tobacco smokers do, which further increases the lungs’ exposure to carcinogenic smoke. Marijuana smokers show dysregulated growth of epithelial cells in their lung tissue, which could lead to cancer;8 however, a recent case-controlled study found no positive associations between marijuana use and lung, upper respiratory, or upper digestive tract cancers.9 Thus, the link between marijuana smoking and these cancers remains unsubstantiated at this time.

Nonetheless, marijuana smokers can have many of the same respiratory problems as tobacco smokers, such as daily cough and phlegm production, more frequent acute chest illness, a heightened risk of lung infections, and a greater tendency toward obstructed airways. A study of 450 individuals found that people who smoke marijuana frequently but do not smoke tobacco have more health problems and miss more days of work than nonsmokers.10 Many of the extra sick days among the marijuana smokers in the study were for respiratory illnesses.

Effects on Daily Life
Research clearly demonstrates that marijuana has the potential to cause problems in daily life or make a person’s existing problems worse. In one study, heavy marijuana abusers reported that the drug impaired several important measures of life achievement including physical and mental health, cognitive abilities, social life, and career status.11 Several studies associate workers’ marijuana smoking with increased absences, tardiness, accidents, workers’ compensation claims, and job turnover.

Basically it just makes you focus a little less and kills a few brain cells big deal. In conclusion I think that the government are just being joy killers and not letting the normal people have fun.

Happy smoking

Peace out
